Die junge Sopranistin Megan Henry wurde in Nord Amerikas erste UNESCO Stadt der Literatur, Iowa City, Iowa geboren. Dafür preist sie das Geschichtenerzählen auf der Bühne als höchste Kunst an. Ihre große Stärke liegt in der Kombination von schauspielerischer Fähigkeit gepaart mit ihrer stimmlichen Vielfalt.
Zu ihre Rollen zählt u.a. Papagena und die zweite Dame in Mozart’s “Die Zauberflöte”, Lucia in Britten’s „The Rape of Lucretia“ Savitri in Holst’s “Savitri”, Elisetta in Cimarosa’s “Il Matrimonio Segreto”, Anne in Sondheim’s “A Little Night Music”, und Lady Ella in Gilbert und Sullivan’s “Patience”.

Megan engagierte sich in verschiedenen Projekten. Dazu zählen Auftritte u.a. als Sängerin bei der Way Off Broadway Sommerfestspielen, als Sängerin/Tänzerin in der „Holiday Grande“ Tour des Steinway Artist Jim McDonaugh and his Orchestra and Singers, und als Hauptdarsteller im preisgekrönten Film “Enjoy the Show”.

Als leidenschaftliche Unterstützerin neuer Werke, hatte Megan das Privileg die Rolle der „Moriko“ im Musical „Sea of Trees“ für das weltberühmte Iowa Writer’s Program hervorzubringen und hat das Kammerstück „300 Goats“ beim Würzburger 2022 „Neue Musik Woche“ in seiner Uraufführung gesungen.
Zahlreichen Meisterkursen hat sie schon mitgemacht bei, u.a. Brigitte Fassbänder, Susanna Eken, Bernarda Fink, Cheryl Studer, Randi Stene, und Adam Benzwi.
Megan ist Stipendiaten von der DAAD und Rotary International.
Megan spricht Englisch, Deutsch, Spanisch, und Schwedisch und studiert an der Hochschule für Musik.

Megan Henry hails from North America’s first UNESCO city of literature, Iowa City, Iowa, and as such, prizes story telling as the highest achievement of the stage.
Through her work in opera, operetta, musical, theater, and film, she has accumulated a vast vocabulary of movement and expression praised as “honest” and “masterful” by critics. Henry toured the state of Iowa in the cast of “Jim McDonough’s Holiday Grande” and starred in the award-winning film “Enjoy the Show”. She sang Anne in Sondheim’s “A Little Night Music” to high praise and was a summer resident with the musical theater festival “Way Off Broadway”.

Her operatic roles include Lucia in Britten’s “The Rape of Lucretia”, Papagena and the 2nd Lady in Mozart’s “The Magic Flute”, Elisetta in Cimarosa’s “Il Matrimonio Segreto”, Savitri in Holst’s “Savitri”, and Lady Ella in Gilbert and Sullivan’s “Patience”.
A passionate supporter of new works, Megan was privileged to originate the role of “Moriko” in the musical “Sea of Trees” for the world-renowned Iowa Writer’s Program and premiere the chamber piece “300 Goats” in the Würzburg 2022 “New Music Week” Festival. She is also a published poet with a passion for feminist themes and environmentalism.
Megan is currently a student at the Hochschule für Musik Würzburg and a part of the Art Song studio under Gerold Huber and Alexander Fleischer. She has taken part in several masterclasses with, among others, Brigitte Fassbaender, Susanna Eken, Bernarda Fink, Cheryl Studer, Randi Stene, and Adam Benzwi.
Megan has received generous scholarships from DAAD and Rotary International.
Megan is fluent in English, German, Spanish and Swedish, she is currently refining her French and Italian.
